Get help! And go further!
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go further, go together”
African Proverb.
This is a very important component of your strategy. You need to know who you can rely on who is that resource you can count on when you need help. Michael Jordan once said that every successful person got there with help; in other words if we want to be successful, we need help. We need somebody who has walked that path before and teach us how to do it. We need to learn the best way to do things from somebody experienced and willing to share their knowledge with us.
There are many options when it comes to looking for partnerships for your business; providers, resellers, channels, and agencies that can help you perform those tasks that will support your business to provide a better customer experience. You have to invest your time in what you are best at and you have to look for somebody to take care of those tasks that are part of your processes but not necessarily the core of your business.
For example a car rental company next to reach customers who are willing to rent their cars; but they also need to keep these cars in the best shape possible, complying with all the security procedures and industry requirements. These companies need a partner to provide extra service to these cars, whilst they provide the best car renting experience to their customers. In this case the core business is renting the car, while for the mechanical service provider the core business is to have top technicians to perform maintenance services on those cars. So this is an example where you can see how the same service can be detached from one company, the former, while for the latter it is exactly what they need to position.
In digital marketing a partnership can be, for example, offering your customer consulting services and support in exchange for advertisement space, recommendations, interchange of expertise and so forth. You need to partner with other businesses that are aligned to your values and the vision, otherwise the partnership will not be successful.
One key component of your partnership is to always protect your customers, to keep your word, to be truthful, candid, and honest about the state of things. Yes, even when things go wrong! People always appreciate sincerity, especially your customers. They need to know what to expect, what is what they’re buying, what’s the level of service that you will be providing. And your partners have to be aligned with all these. Partnerships are just a exchange of experiences, knowledge, sometimes services, in a way that both parties benefit from it. Partnerships is a way to create synergy between two businesses. You will be pleased with the partnership when you are reaching your goals, and your customers are satisfied with their experience.
